PURPOSE:To obtain a filament exhibiting excellent antibacterial, mildew-proofing and deodorizing activities and having extremely high safety by coating a deacetylated chitin to a filament made of a thermoplastic polymer or a nonwoven fabric composed of the filament. CONSTITUTION:An organic acid salt (e.g. acetic acid salt solution) of a deacetylated chitin is applied to a filament of single polymer consisting of a thermoplastic polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate, polyolefin or polyamide, a mixture of two or more kinds of the polymers or a conjugate filament such as core-sheath conjugate filament composed of two or more kinds of the polymers or a nonwoven fabric made of the filaments to obtain the objective filament or nonwoven fabric exhibiting excellent antibacterial, mildew-proofing and deodorizing activities, free from toxicity and having extremely high safety. The product is suitable as a material for common clothes, medical and sanitary materials, etc. |
