PURPOSE:To shorten the length in the size of the lengthwise sealing machine independent of the vertical length of the bag produced. CONSTITUTION:Simultaneously with intermittent feeding of a web W by a paying-off part, a metal belt 1, which is being heated by a heater 2, is pressed to be put in contact with a tube-forming body T by the pressing action of a contact-withdrawal-controlling drive part 4 while being moved in the direction of the feeding of the web W. The web W undergoes heat-melt adhesion as it travels between the outer side of the tube-forming body T and the metal belt 1.
