PURPOSE:To correctly conduct a self-diagnosis of an edge position control mechanism by identifying whether a parameter of a displacement of an edge position of a material after a predetermined elapse time after the issuance of an inclination command has a normal relation to the inclination angle of a guide roller shaft to a reference shaft. CONSTITUTION:When a self-diagnosis is conducted in a mechanism in which running paper 1 is moved leftward in the figure by inclining a guide roller 12 through an angle theta with respect to a reference shaft P set at right angles to the feed direction of the running paper 1 for conducting an edge position control, an inclination start command is generated from an inclination command means 21 at a time t0 to incline the shaft of the guide roller 12 through an angle theta from 2 reference shaft P to an inclined shaft Q. Thereafter, an elapse time (t) from the time t0 is counted by a timer means 22. A displacement (x) of an edge position from the time t0 is detected by an edge sensor 15. The detected displacement value (x) is compared with a set value by a comparison means 23 where the angle theta and the time (t) are fixed, whereby the presence or absence of abnormality is recognized. |
