PURPOSE:To provide an intake system for a two-cycle engine furnished with a scavenging port in the circumferential wall of a cylinder which can prevent stagnation of combustion gas in a combustion chamber at the time of scavenging and can improve the scavenging efficiency. CONSTITUTION:In a two-cycle engine CE furnished with a scavenging port in the circumferential wall of a cylinder 4, the upper edge part of an opening portion of the scavenging port 13 into the cylinder 4 is formed into an approximately straight line having a predetermined angle relative to a plane at right angles to the direction of the travel of a piston 5, or is formed into an approximately stepped line in view from the opposite side to the opening portion, so that swirling is produced in a combustion chamber 6 at the initial and final stages of scavenging and a tumble is produced during scavenging. It is preferable that an exhaust port 15 is provided in a cylinder head 2, the scavenging port 13 is provided covering about a half of the internal circumference of the circumferential wall of the cylinder, and a supercharger 24 is provided in an intake air passage 23 located upstream from the scavenging port 13. |
