PURPOSE:To improve the travel performance of a hybrid vehicle with a Stiring engine and a motor commonly serving as a generator and as travel drive source. CONSTITUTION:A Stiring engine 11 and a motor 13 serving also as a generator are connected to each other by an intermittent or fluid clutch, and the motor 13 serving also as the generator and a differential gear 16 are connected to each other by a continuously variable transmission 15. With this constitution, the Stiring engine 11 can be started by the motor 13 commonly serving as the generator through the intermittent or fluid clutch, so that there is no need to provide a special starter motor, which makes a vehicle lightweight. The speed change width of the continuously variable transmission 15 is very large. Utilizing this characteristic, the Stiring engine 11 can hold high engine speed even during the low speed travel of a vehicle, and a battery 20 can be charged utilizing the motor 13 as the generator. |
