PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance on the surface of a back-up roll by providing the surface of a back-up roll corresponding to a rotary brush with a hard film by thermal spraying at the time of cleaning the surface of a metallic steel strip by the rotary brush. CONSTITUTION:At the time of annealing a cold rolled steel sheet or the like, iron powder, etc., on the surface of a steel sheet 4 continuously moving by the rotation of a brush roll 1 are removed for the purpose of cleaning the surface of the steel sheet 4. At this time, a back-up roll 2 is arranged at the position corresponding to the brush roll 1 with the steel sheet 4 held therebetween to make better the contact of the brush roll 1 with the steel sheet 4 and to increase the cleaning effect by the brush roll 1. The surface of the back-up roll 2 to be used is thermal-sprayed with an Ni-base or Ni-Cr base self-fluxing allay or hard ceramics such as Al2O3 to form a hard film, by which the wear resistance on the surface of the back-up roll can be improved, its service life can be prolonged and its productivity can be improved. |
