PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain oxalic acid useful for production of glucose, anodic coating, as a raw material for medicines, etc., by reacting an oxamide with a culture solution of a specific microorganism or its microbial cells (treated substances) in an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION:A culture solution of a microorganism (e.g. Aerobacter.aerogenes IFO-12059) having the ability to produce oxalic acid from an oxamide or its microbial cells (treated substances) are reacted with the oxamide in an aqueous medium. The aforementioned reaction is normally carried out at 20-50 deg.C and pH 5-10. The concentration of the oxamide may normally be 0.1-30wt.%. |
