PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic resin emulsion excellent in heat resistance and tackiness by a simple process by emulsion-polymerizing a specified vinyl monomer mixture in the presence of a chain transfer agent and a specified reactive emulsifier. CONSTITUTION:A monomer mixture mainly consisting of an alkyl acrylate with 4 C or higher alkyl and containing specified amounts of an unsaturated carboxylic acid and vinyl acetate is emulsion-polymerized in the presence of a specified amount of a chain transfer agent and at least one reactive emulsifier selected from among emulsifiers of formulas I-III [wherein R1, R3 and R5 are each a (substituted) hydrocarbon group; R2, R4 and R6 are each H or CH3; M is Na or NH4; A is 2-4C alkylene; (m) is 0-100; X is H or a nonionic or anionic hydrophilic group@[, formula IV [wherein R7 is 4-18C alkyl, alkenyl or aralkyl; R is H or R; A is 2-4C (substituted)alkylene; (n) is 2-200; M is an alkali metal, NH or an alkanolamine residue] and formula V (wherein A is 2-4C alkylene; and (n) is 0-100). |
