Method for the welding together, using a laser, of metal sheets within a press tool, characterised in that it consists, when the tool is closed at the station prior to welding, in removing a generally cylindrical small part (16) of the workpieces to be welded, the lower part of the tool as well as the die of the press being cleared at the welding station (18) in order to allow room for the head for focusing the laser beam.
