PURPOSE:To enhance durability by providing high-polymer org. matter which is formulated to provide lubrication on a protective film for protecting a magnetic layer and chemically bonding >=3 pieces of the high-polymer org. matter molecules constituting the high-polymer org. matter to the protective film. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer 1-3 consisting of a cobalt-nickel alloy is formed via a backing layer 1-2 consisting of 'Permalloy(R)' on a glass substrate 1-1 and thereafter, the protective film 1-4 consisting of a plasma-polymerized film is formed. A lubricating layer 1-5 which is the high-polymer org. matter is provided by spin coating on the protective film 1-4 and the magnetic disk formed with the layers up to 1-5 is subjected to a plasma treatment. A gaseous mixture composed of argon and oxygen is used as a plasma-generating gas and the treatment is executed by radio wave plasma electric power. The applied lubricant is activated in this way and not only a function group 1-7 but also points 1-8 exclusive of the functional group existing at both terminals can be chemically bonded to the film 1-4 which is the lower layer. Namely, the lubricant is stuck to the protective film and simultaneously the entire surface of the disk is inactivated, by which the coefft. of friction is lowered. |
