PURPOSE:To shorten the processing time up to multi-screen display by implementing the processing of restoration to an orthogonal transformation coefficient in the reduction mode, extracting only a DC component in the coefficient, interleaving the other so as to interleave the picture elements thereby simplifying the processing. CONSTITUTION:A coding circuit 7 decodes a data subject to code word processing from an input output terminal at reproduction processing to restore the data to an original quantization coefficient and the result is fed to a quantization circuit 11. The circuit 11 quantizes an orthogonal transformation output data from an orthogonal transformation/inverse orthogonal transformation circuit 6 at coding processing with a prescribed quantization width and the result is fed to the circuit 7. However, at the reproduction processing, the code from the circuit 7 is inversely converted to restore the original orthogonal transformation coefficient. When the reduction processing for the pattern for multi-pattern display is implemented, an operation section 12 throws a switch 5 to the position (b). Thus, the orthogonal transformation coefficient from the circuit 11 is directly given to a frame memory 3, and the write is subject to interleave control by the control circuit 4 in a timing when the data of the DC component is outputted and the processing is simplified and a high-speed reduction processing of picture is enabled. |
