PURPOSE: To provide a brake cylinder that can be easily and simply manufactured at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: A brake cylinder is manufactured by cutting off an extruded bar into a required length and closing an end thereof with a cap 19. The bar includes a cylinder jacket 11 and connection ribs 13, 14 and 15 projecting from the jacket. A flange member 22 is fastened to the cylinder jacket. The bores for the filling ports and bores for the pressure connections are bored into the connection ribs radially to the cylinder jacket. Producing the cylinder by extrusion provides a cylinder jacket of a surface quality high enough to make finishing superfluous. |
