PURPOSE:To obtain a linearly polarized light having the satisfactory degree of polarization by providing a polarizer in the ferrule of an optical connector to output the linearly polarized light through a polarized light maintaining optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In a ferrule 3, an optical fiber 2 formed a polarized light separating film 1 on the end face is inserted and fixed until the middle of a small diameter hole, and a polarized light maintaining optical fiber 4 to be connected is inserted to the ferrule 3, abutted with the optical fiber 2 and fixed by an adhesive agent 5 having a refraction factor matching operation. Thus, a connector terminal 6 built in the ferrule 3 is equipped with a function as the polarized light separating filter (polarizer) of a low inserting loss. Therefore, the arbitrary polarized light made incident from an optical connector 11 is separated into the two linearly polarized lights of a P polarized light 10 and an S polarized light 9, the P polarized light 10 is passed through a polarized light maintaining optical fiber 7, and the elliptically polarized light temporarily distorted and made elliptical is turned to a completely linearly polarized light in the ferrule 3 of the connector terminal 6 by a polarized light separating film 1 and outputted. |
