PURPOSE:To present a high-speed and small-sized parallel-serial signal converter. CONSTITUTION:Electric data signals 2 inputted in parallel are used as transmission/interception control signals of optical switches 81 to 88, and lengths of optical transmission lines are so changed that propagation delay times of plural routes through which pulse light 10 is distributed and passes optical switches and is synthesized into an output signal 3 again are different from one another by the pulse width of pulse light or longer, and pulse light is allowed to pass through while transmission/interception of each optical switch is settled. Data transmitted in serial are generated by single pulse light and are transposed as optical signals on optical transmission lines, and therefore, the high-speed parallel-serial signal conversion device is easily realized. Since optical distributors 71 to 77, optical switches, synthesizers 31 to 37, and optical transmission lines are formed on the substrate on which elements to output electric data signals are mounted, the device is miniaturized. |
