PURPOSE:To enhance the oxidative removal capacity of carbon monoxide, by making an aqueous solution of a salt mixture of Mn and Cu acidic by mineral acid to precipitate a crystalline salt mixture of Mn and Cu and adding potassium permanganese to the resulting slurry to apply oxidizing treatment to said slurry. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a salt mixture of Mn and Cu is made acidic by mineral acid to precipitate a crystalline salt mixture of Mn and Cu. Potassium permanganese is added to the formed strong acidic slurry and oxidizing treatment is performed to form manganese dioxide. After the formed precipitate was separated from a mother liquid, said precipitate is subjected to neutralization treatment by an alkali agent to obtain a manganese dioxide type oxidizing catalyst. As the Mn-salt and the Cu-salt, there are sulfate and nitrate etc. and, as the aqueous solution of the salt mixture of Mn and Cu, one of which the Mn/Cu mol ratio is 1.4-14.0 is pref. |
