<p>In an intraocular optical implant (50, 70) including a refractive/diffractive lens (62) having an anterior surface (64) and a posterior surface (66) and a generally anterior-posterior optical axis (O), at least one of the surfaces (64, 66) has a diffractive lens profile covering about half the effective lens area of the lens (62). Preferably the diffractive lens profile occupies a sectoral portion (52, 72) of the effective lens area, as for example a semicircular sectoral portion (52), or a plurality of sectoral portions (72) the sum of whose subtended angles is about 180°, as for example two sectoral portions (72) each of whose subtended angles is about 90°.</p> |
