摘要 The portal robot incorporates fixed legs (1) supporting a bridge (2) upon which travels a carriage (3) having a vertically sliding column (4). At the base of the column (4), mounted on a powered slide providing movement in the Y direction, is a carrier arm (5). The arm (5) carries a grab unit (6) with two heads (7) fixed at right angles to each other but which can rotate together 180 deg. (P) about a vertical axis and 270 deg. (E) about the Y axis. USE/ADVANTAGE - Portal-type robot provides more positive and accurate engagement of the grab with tools in racks and allows tools and/or parts to be stored at closer centres.
