The data processing network has a number of CPUs, e.g. 16 (1) that are organised in modules. The CPU elements are so called transputers, each of which has four channels (3) that connect with a programmable control unit (2). Each of the units connects via a data transmission bus (5). The CPU units when plugged into a module provide a connect with the others via the control unit to form a local network. The interconnection of the modules via the bus forms a regional network. ADVANTAGE - Limited interconnection wiring. High speed operation.
