<p>A computer controlled automated immunassay analyzer (10) having a display (16) which provides a readily usable, real time presentation of assay results and operations being performed by the analyzer (10). Samples may be loaded randomly and rearranged prior to processing according to a priority determined by the operator. A variable number of different immunoassays can be performed on each sample. Information about the sample and the assays to be performed is collected by a bar code reader (44) and communicated to the computer (12) for tracking the progress of each immunoassay through the reaction circuit (52) to the detection station (46) where a bound chemiluminescent label is detected with a photomultiplier (96). The immunoassay is performed with an assay tube (27) which allows washing operations to be performed by rotating the tube (27) around its longitudinal axis to expel fluids.</p> |
