The aperture (18) in a valve plate (4,5) is opened and shut by a flap valve (20) with a disc-shaped head section (20a) continuing into a neck section (20b). A holding member (21) mounted to the valve plate (4,5) has an inclined surface (21a) which determines how far the flap valve (20) opens. The angle of the inclined surface (21a) changes in the area contacted by the head section (20a) of the valve (20) when the aperture (18) is fully open. USE/ADVANTAGE - Curved geometry of valve stop prevents the valve flap from sticking to the stop, thus avoiding reduced volumetric efficiency caused by delayed return.
