Bath installation system - uses channel section rail with drain hole and sound insulating strip along shorter flange

A bath or shower-basin is installed using a channel-section rail with long and short flanges. The rail has a drain hole in the bottom, and is fixed by the latter and the longer flange to a wall, while a sound-insulating strip is fitted over the top edge of the shorter flange. One or more suporting walls are erected clear of the first wall each with an insulating strip along the top edge. The bath or basin has edges bent outwards, and by which it is suspended from the rail and the supporting walls, while a joint strip runs along the edges. The strip on the supporting wall can be of polyurethane, expanded polystyrene, extruded foam or similar material. ADVANTAGE - No water leaking past the joint strip can affect the wall, an the bath or basin can be easily removed without destroying brickwork.
