The nearside view mirror (3) is mounted on the outside of the vehicle, on the side away from the driver and provides a view down to the floor alongside the vehicle. It enables the driver to position the vehicle close to the side of the road and to see obstructions. A light (5) fitted to the same side of the vehicle illuminates the field, of view of the mirror. The lamp is operated by a separate switch on the dashboard. It can also be operated together with the switch for the vehicle headlights. The lamp is mounted nearer to the road than the mirror. ADVANTAGE - Simple mounting, enables safety mirror to be used at night.
