摘要 The current taken by the cutting motor is constantly monitored and compared with a reference value which is determined empirically. If the current exceeds the reference value, then the system signals a blade change. This prevents damage to the workpiece. The empirical value is determined from a number of examples, to reduce the effects of process variation. The value of the current is taken during the middle part of the cutting process to eliminate differences in working at the start- and end of the cutting process. USE/ADVANTAGE - Automatic cutting of pipe sections in continuous pipe welding process. Cost effective use of cutting blades, improved throughput rates.
