Disclosed is a method of forming grooves in dynamic pressure fluid bearing to provide desired surface precision without surface finishing of shaft. A shaft core member 1a of a radius, which is determined by subtracting the radius of the completed shaft 1 from the depth of the dynamic pressure generating grooves 4, is prepared, and then anti-abrasive hard electroless plating is applied to form a plated layer 2 of a thickness equal to the depth of the dynamic pressure generating grooves 4. Then, a resist 3 is printed on curved surface of the plated layer 2, excluding areas where the dynamic pressure generating grooves 4 are to be formed. The plated layer 2 is then removed by etching in areas where the grooves 4 are to be formed, and then the resist 3 is removed to provide the shaft 1 provided with the dynamic pressure generating grooves 4. <IMAGE> <IMAGE> |
