The automatic disconnection circuit is used to reduce the current consumption of a load connected to a telephone line by disconnecting it from the current supply network between calls. It uses a controlled switch (1), coupled to a call detector (3), responsive to the electrical ringing signal, to operate the switch (1) for supplying the load and to a control circuit (2) for disconnecting the load after a timed interval. Pref. an operating mode detector (4) monitors the telephone line to hold the switch (1) in the operative position as long as the line is occupied by a call and activating the control circuit (2) for disconnection of the load when the call is terminated. USE - For reducing current consumption of facsimile or telephone answering machine.
