摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a fine display of high brightness and to manufacture a gas discharge display panel low in its driving voltage and long in its life by disposing printed cathodes and insulating barrier ribs thicker than the cathodes on an insulation substrate and further by forming an emitter layer on the surfaces of the cathodes and the sides of the barrier ribs. CONSTITUTION:Metallic paste is printed in the form of parallel ribbons at equal intervals on an insulation substrate 1. Further, low-melting-point glass paste is printed among the parallel stuck metallic paste members and it is fired at a prescribed temperature, so that 20-30mum thick cathodes 2 and 350-400mum thick barrier ribs 3 are formed. An emitter material 4 consisting of LaB6 as a main ingredient is sprayed on the surfaces of the cathodes 2 and the barrier ribs 3 by plasma injection, and it is fused and stuck 100-150mum in thickness. Thereafter the emitter material 4 stuck on the top parts of the barrier ribs 3 are removed and the emitter material 4 is provided with a plurality of dielectric isolation processes so that emitter layers 5 are formed corresponding to the cathodes 2. Grinding and polishing processes are used as methods for removing the emitter material 4 stuck on the top parts of the barrier ribs 3.
