PURPOSE:To make the engine compact while keeping a sufficient capacity of a silencer, by folding the silencer in an L-shape so that a part of the silencer is located upwardly of a gear box. CONSTITUTION:The body of the silencer 24 is fixed to the side of a cylinder 10 extending perpendicularly to the gear box 20, and the silencer 24 is formed with an L-shaped portion 26 which extends along cylinder 10. Therefore, the silencer 24 is formed in an L-shape as a whole. On the other hand, the gear box 20 having therein gears for transmitting a turning force from a crank shaft 16 to an output shaft 18 is formed to project from the cylinder 10, and the L-shaped part 26 of the silencer 24 is located in a space defined by the upper surface of the gear box 20 and the side face of the cylinder 10. |
