The tube cutting machine has a chuck (2) which holds a group of tubes (16) so that the tubes (16) are parallel to each other. The chuck brings the tubes to the cutting position with respect to the rotating blade (4). While being cut the tubes are held on either side of the cutting plane by means of two clamps (5, 6). Before the clamps (5, 6) grip the tubes (16), the tubes are supported by mandrels (11) attached to a support (10) which can slide horizontally to bring the mandrels (11) in and out of the tubes. Supporting the tubes (16) while the clamps (5, 6) are being tightened prevents the outside surfaces of the tubes from being scratched.
