PURPOSE:To prevent a theft and stealth use of hardware and software by collating each access key in start up processing and enabling data access at the time of the coincidence. CONSTITUTION:As the power is applied to the system, a CPU 11 accesses a BIOS-ROMI 2 and executes a system start up processing. In an IRT routine (initial diagnostic processing), an access key is read from a RAM 13 with a battery backed up, and executes processing outputted to a hard disk interface 14. Further, an access key K1 on the system side is read out from the RAM 13 with its battery backed up, and an access key K2 is read out from an EEPROM 16 mounted in an hard disk drive(HDD) 16 at the start up processing of the HDD 16. Respective access keys K1 and K2 are collated, and whether or not the data access is permitted is decided based on the result of collation. |
