Cosmetic or pharmaceutical use of alkylpolyglycosides and/or O-acylated derivatives of glucose for treating hair loss. The compounds have the developed formula (II) where R1 is a radical or a mixture of alkyl or alkenyl radicals; x is from 1 to 15; and/or compounds of the formula (III) where R2 stands for a hydrocarbon chain and R3 represents a C1 to C4 alkyl group or hydrogen; the compounds of the formula (II) not being used in the presence of pyrimidine derivatives.
