PURPOSE:To reduce a voltage drop of a thyristor and to obtain a device having a low loss by so forming a saturable reactor connected in series with the thyristor of a core material that a leakage current at the time of nonsaturation falls within a special range. CONSTITUTION:A thyristor 10 of a series circuit of the thyristor 10 and a saturable reactor SR is turned ON, and a previously charged capacitor C1 is discharged to obtain a pulse current. In such a magnetic assistance type pulse discharging device, the reactor SR is so formed of a core material that a leakage current at the time of nonsaturation becomes 50 to 10A. The material is desirably formed of an iron series amorphous material. For example, two thyristors 10 are held by heat sinks 11 at both sides, and secured by a clamping plate 12 to be used also as a terminal strip. A core in which an amorphous material (2605C0, etc., made of Allied Co., of USA) is wound, is placed on its upper part, and a series circuit of capacitors C0 and C1 is formed in such a manner that a conductor is passed at the center of the core. |
