PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction caused by the fault of a temperature sensor, for example, the temperature of the surface of a fixing roller from rising equal to or higher than a specified value, to prevent the curl and the jamming of a transfer paper from occurring, and to prevent a device from being damaged. CONSTITUTION:This is a fixing device for an image forming device, which is provided with the fixing roller 57 having a heat source, a pressure roller, the temperature sensor 53 for detecting the surface temperature of the roller 57, and a control means 51 which keeps the surface temperature of the roller 57 within the specified temperature by on/off controlling the heat source according to the detection signal of the sensor 53, and where the transfer paper carrying an unfixed toner image is carried in a contact state and fixing is performed by heating. This device is also provided with an abnormality detection means for detecting the abnormality of a fixing heater 56 or the abnormality of the sensor 53, and a means for inhibiting the heater 56 from being driven in the case that the abnormality is detected by the detection means. |
