PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display element of a high definition display, which improves its visual angle characteristic, and is excellent in visibility. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display element is constituted by placing two pieces of liquid crystal layers 2, 3 and an optical anisotropic substance layer 5 between two pieces of polarizing plates 1, 4. As for two pieces of liquid crystal layers 2, 3, angles of torsion are roughly equal to each other and its torsion directions are reverse to each other, and a spiral axis is twisted and arranged roughly in parallel to a normal on the display surface, and the optical anisotropic substance layer 5 has negative optical anisotropy in the thickness direction of the layer. |
