PURPOSE:To remarkably improve such battery performance as cycle characteristic, etc., by controlling the generation of hydrogen gas and improving the absorption performance of oxygen gas. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode made up of a conductive core body and an active material layer which is formed on the surface of that conductive core body and uses a material selected from a group made up of cadmium oxide, cadmium hydroxide and metallic cadmium as main active materials is included. A conductive nylon fiber 13 made up of a roughly cylindrical nylon fiber portion 11 in whose longitudinal direction a recessed portion 11a is formed and a carbon portion 12 filled in the recessed portion 11a is contained in the active material layer. |
