PURPOSE:To execute printing with the resolution higher than the pitch of light emitting elements arranged on a printing head. CONSTITUTION:The plural light emitting elements 1 (1a to 1g) are arranged at the same pitch and at the heights varied from each other. The differences between the distances (A or B) from the respective points 5a to 5g on a photosensitive drum 3 corresponding to the respective light emitting elements 1 (1a to 1g) to the opposite light emitting elements 1 (1a to 1g) and the distances (E or F) from the respective points 5a to 5g up to the adjacent light emitting elements 1 (1a to 1g) are set at integer times the light emission wavelength and the difference between the distances C and D from the intermediate point of the respective points 5a to 5g to the two light emitting elements 1 (1a to 1g) is set at odd times the half wavelength. The adjacent light emitting elements 1 (1a to 1g) are driven by varying the phases thereof in the case of impartation of the printing dots to the intermediate points. The intermediate points of the respective points 5a to 5g of the photosensitive drum 3 are printed in such a case. |
