<p>PURPOSE: To display plural screens on a screen display part and to save the retrieval time of plural picture data recorded in the main memory of an electronic still camera. CONSTITUTION: The electronic still camera contatins a multiplex screen control circuit 10 which is controlled by a micro computer 9 corresponding to a screen generation request inputted from a screen selection part 8 and which shows respective screen states. When a retrieval mode is not designated, the camera operates at the operation mode of a general system. When the retrieval mode is designated, output from a reproduction buffer memory 5 to a video display part 7 is inhibited and the micro computer 9 controls the multiplex screen control part 10 by an instruction from the screen selection part 8, picture data of a main memory 4 is read and it is recorded in the reproduction buffer memory 5. Then, it is outputted from the reproduction buffer memory 5 to the video display part 7 after recording terminates. The instruction of the screen selection part 8 is waited for after output. When a termination signal is received during waiting, the multiplex screen in the middle of display is erased, the screen during display is reproduced before a retrieval process is executed and a system restores to the normal mode.</p> |
