PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent image without causing a defect such as the unevenness of transfer or the omission of transfer by making a current value at the time when impressed voltage is 50V within a specified range as to the electric characteristic of a transfer material carrying member. CONSTITUTION:As to the electric characteristic of the transfer material carrying member 11, the current value at the time when the impressed voltage is 50V is under five times, desirably three times, as high as the current value at the time when the impressed voltage is 10V. Then, it is equal to or under 1/100, desirably 1/150, of the current value at the time when the impressed voltage is 4O00V. Namely, an electric current is not applied so much in a low electric field area but is applied by power function in a high electric field. As to current- voltage characteristic, by using the transfer carrying member 11 which is convex downward, a certain charge is held by electrostatically charging once, and a transfer paper is attracted and carried without trouble. Because of what is called a varistor effect, a transfer current is applied while holding a certain charge in the case of transferring toner on a transfer paper, thereby obtaining the excellent image. |
