PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a refractive index matching agent and to improve the attaching/detaching operability, and also, to realize the connection characteristic of a low reflection and a low loss by forming a contact part of each plug connecting end face to the inclined surface, and also, to an elliptical shape having a major axis in the optical fiber array direction. CONSTITUTION:A plug 21 is constituted of an elastic material whose Young's modulus is <=30GPa. An optical fiber 7 of plural cores in an optical fiber tape 6 is arrayed and fixed between a pair of guide pin insertion holes 22. A connecting end face 23 has a shape of the convex elliptical body surface in which the inclined surface having a larger angle theta than a total reflection critical angle of a propagation light in the optical fiber against the face being orthogonal to an optical fixer axis is the reference surface. A radius of curvature of this convex elliptical body surface has the maximum value R1 and the minimum value R2, in the array direction of the optical fiber 7, and in the direction being orthogonal to the array direction of the optical fiber 7, respectively, on a plug axis center. In such a way, at the time of connecting each plug, the contact surface becomes an elliptical shape, and the optical fibers 7 of a multicore can be brought into contact with each other in a lump by the inclined surface. |
