PURPOSE:To provide a driving method for the display device which is increased in rewriting speed and has uniform erasure characteristics in a driving method for a display device which drives and controls a display device such as a plasma display, specially, a driving method for a display device which is driven and controlled by a batch writing system. CONSTITUTION:Plural display cells C are divided into plural display areas and while write pulses are applied to one display area, erasure pulses are applied to other display areas. Consequently, the period from the time when the write pulses are applied to the display areas to the time when the erasure pulses are applied in order becomes short to make the erasure characteristics as uniform as possible and also make the rewriting speed fast. Further, the write pulses are applied at different timing by the divided display areas, so noise generation is suppressed and a peak current value is suppressed to reduce the capacity of a power source. |
