On one side of the diaphragm (5) a propagation medium (8) has essentially the same acoustic impedance as the medium (8) on the other side of the diaphragm, but the acoustic impedances of the media are different from that of the material of the diaphragm. From the output signal a correction signal is derived which is combined with the output signal. The correction signal is designed in such a way that the factors contained in the output signal, in particular those due to multiple reflections in the diaphragm, are at least essentially removed after the combination. The diaphragm is a polymer foil, with electrodes (2,3), on either side, and the media are fluids, with water (9) surrounding the housing (6). ADVANTAGE - Factors causing error removed.
