PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN OPALESCENT BODY OF POLYMER HAVING A CORE-SHELL

The emusified polymer, which is obtained by emulsion copolymerizing a hydrophilic monomer having a carboxylic acid group, mono double-bondable monomer and crosslinkable monomer, consists of a core part of alkali swollen polymeric material and a shell part of rigid polymeric material not forming continuous film at room temperature. Particularly, the inner pore of the core part contains metal compound having a high refractive index or amphiphilic compound. The polymer is useful for aqueous paint or paper coating.
