But-3-en-1-ol cpds. of formula HO-CH(R1)-CH2-C(R2)=CH2 (I) are used to stabilise compsns. contg. chlorofluoroalkanes and amines and/or polyols contg. amino gps., wehre R1, R2=H, (un)branched 1-4C alkyl or (substd.) Ph. The pref. (I) is 3-methyl-but-3-en-1-ol, and the amt. of (I) is 0.05-5 (0.3-1.5) wt.% w.r.t. the chlorofluoroalkane. The amines are esp. amine catalysts, e.g. (un)satd. (cyclo)aliphatic or heterocyclic amines, esp. e.g. triethylamine, methyl-bis-dimethyl aminoethylamine, N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylene diamine, etc. The amines may be aminoalcohols, pref. dimethylethanolamine, diethanolamine, N-methyldiethanolamine, triethanolamine, diisopropanolamine, or N,N,N',N'-tetrakis (2-hydroxypropyl)ethylene diamine. Polyols contg. amino gps. are polyethers started on amines or alkanolamines, with residual OH gps.
