Centrifugal pump with sliding ring seal - has annular skirt overlapping sealing gap

A sliding ring (2) is mounted to the hub (8) of a pump rotor (6) and runs counter to a fixed ring (4) to form a radial sealing gap (3). The rotor (6) has vent drillings (26) in the area of the hub (8) and these connect the pressure side (rear) of the rotor with its suction side. The rotor (6) has an annular skirt (25) which projects axially as far as the sealing gap (3), and, preferably, overlaps it. There is an annular clearance (24) between the inside of the skirt (25) and the outside of the sliding ring (2). The ends of the drillings (26) at the delivery side connect the base fo the annular clearance (24) with the rotor inlet side. USE - Prevents air bubbles and tiny solid particles from collecting round the rotor hub.
