Disc brake with mixed caliper - with caliper providing supports for both pad backplates and fixture flange, enabling cost effective manufacture

A disk brake assembly has a caliper, which encompasses the disk and both pad backplates, and actuator units operating on both backplate. The caliper is split in a plane parallel and off centre to the disk. In the first, outer caliper section (1) supports (10-17) are arranged to serve both backplates (7,8). The first section also houses the brake fixture flange (18). ADVANTAGE - Easy processing of backplate support faces, therefore cost-effective manufacture of caliper.
