A gear shroud (59) is provided in close surrounding relationship to the drive gear (31) of a centrifugal compressor (13) such that oil that might otherwise be thrown outwardly as a mist to be entrained and carried over into the refrigerant, will be contained and directed into the sump (44). In order to prevent localized churning in the sump (44) and the resulting cavitation at the oil pump (53), as might be caused by the high velocity flow of oil and refrigeration gas mixture from the gear shroud (59), a baffle (78) is provided over the oil pump (53) to divert the inflow of oil and entrained gas into other areas of the sump (44). <IMAGE> |
