Granulated ammonium sulphate prepn. with better storage properties - by addn. of dicyandiamide and/or oligomeric caprolactam

Prepn. of granulated ammonium sulphate by compacting with added pressing auxiliaries or binding agents, comprises addn. of (a) 1-5 wt.% of dicyandiamide (I), (b) 1-5 wt.% of oligomeric caprolactam (II), or (c) 1-3 wt.% of a 1:1 mixt. of (I) and (II) to crystalline ammonium sulphate prior to granulation, and thermal treatment of the granulate at 150-175 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved storage-, transport- and spreading properties. The prod. is useful as a fertiliser in agriculture and forestry. The process requires lower compacting pressures than the pure salt granulates, and gives a granulate with a higher grain strength than the pure salt granulate
