A method for improving the signal to noise ratio from an array of geophones G1 - Gn for detecting seismic signals, the method comprising processing the signals from each geophone so as to form a detector beam directed towards the signal of interest S so as to reject signals from any other direction e.g. ground roll GR. The processing may comprise delaying the signal received at each geophone and summing the signals from each geophone, the delay for each geophone in the array being such that after delay, the signal of interest occurs at substantially the same time for each geophone when the signals are summed. <IMAGE> |
