PURPOSE:To obtain a binder composition for refractory, exhibiting decreased thermal expansion in the baking of refractory brick and effective for preventing the crack generation by dissolving a novolak phenolic resin and a vinysol resin in an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective binder composition for refractory is produced by dissolving a novolak phenolic resin and a vinysol resin in an organic solvent at a weight ratio of 7/3 to 1/9. A refractory exhibiting low thermal expansion in the heat-curing and burning process can be produced by the use of the binder. The organic solvent to be used in the above composition is preferably a combination of an ester and an aromatic solvent, and the amount of the organic solvent is preferably about 20-60%. |
