PURPOSE:To prevent the contact of a recording means with a recording medium resulting in damaging the recording means. CONSTITUTION:In a line recording mode, a delivery port of a recording means is retracted to be out of a recording medium feed path at every completion of one line recording. In a page recording mode, the recording means is reciprocated within the recording medium feed path for making recording in a predetermined area; after the completion of the recording in the predetermined area, the delivery port of the recording means is retracted to be out of the recording medium feed path; and a recording medium is fed to be discharged. |
