<p>To carry out the analysis of the contents of containers such as returned reusable drink bottles effectively, rapidly but nevertheless cheaply and without considerable effort, a method is provided for investigating the gas phases in containers such as drink bottles, in particular for sorting and separating bottles in a filling plant for drink bottles.
